This is a gravy vegetable made with potatoes and green chickpeas. Green chickpeas or chana is usually available in abundance during the winters. Chana is known as choliya in the North. These chanas are extremely nutritious and this gravy is absolutely delicious!

Ingredients
1 large Potatoes, diced into large cubes
1 cup Green chickpeas
1 Finely chopped onions
1 Finely chopped tomatoes
Salt, to taste
3 Finely chopped green chillies
1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tsp Garam masala
A pinch of Hing
Finely chopped coriander leaves, for garnish
1 tbsp Oil
Instructions
Soak the chickpeas overnight
In a pressure cooker take oil and splutter cumin seeds
Add a pinch of hing and turmeric powder
Add the onions and ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell goes away
Puree the tomato and add this to the mixture
sauté till it becomes thick and the oil starts oozing out
Add the chilli powder, salt, garam masala to the mixture and sauté for another minute
Add the potatoes and the chana and sauté for 1 minute till it gets coated with the spices
Add 2 cups of water, close the lid and cook for 2 whistles, lower the flame and cook for 2-3 minutes
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rotis or paratha
