Baked Maggi Buns

This is an interesting bake especially for kids who love Maggi noodles like my kids. This is a different form of eating noodles and it is very interesting. Try this one and give your kids a surprise!



Prep Time: 2 hrs

Cook Time: 40 mins


Ingredients

For the outer bread

  • 2 cups Maida

  • to taste Salt

  • 1 tsp Sugar

  • 2 tsps Dry yeast

  • 3 tbsps Oil

  • 1 and 1/2 cup + 3 tbsp Water

For the filling

  • 1 packet Maggi curry flavour noodles

  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped onions

  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped capsicum

  • 1 tsp Chilli flakes

  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1/2 tsp Pizza or pasta seasoning

  • 1/2 cup Grated cheese

  • 2 tsp Tomato ketchup

  • for brushing Butter

  • for garnish Chilli flakes

Instructions

For the outer bun

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add 3 tbsps water, dissolve sugar and yeast and mix well. Keep aside till it blooms.

  2. Add the maida, salt and 2 tbsps of oil and knead a soft elastic dough. Keep covered for an hour.

  3. After an hour punch the dough and knead the dough once again for one minute till it is soft and pliable.

  4. Smear it with 1 tbsp oil, cover and keep aside for half an hour

  5. Make equal balls of this and keep aside covered

For the filling

  1. Cook the maggi as per instructions on the pkt

  2. Add all the other ingredients (except chilli flakes and butter) and mix well, adjust salt

To proceed

  1. Make a cup out of a ball of dough, add 3 tbsps filling, cover and seal it

  2. Smoothen the balls and line them in a greased square tray

  3. Do the same with the other dough balls and fillings

  4. Smear butter on top of each of them, cover and keep aside for half an hour, it may rise again

  5. Sprinkle chilli flakes on top and bake these in 180 degrees C preheated oven for 20-25 mins till the crust gets light brown

  6. Smear butter once again and have them hot with tea or coffee

Notes

You can make a different filling as per your choice. Another filling which I had made is as follows :

  • Corn – 4 tbsps

  • Finely chopped onions – 4 tbsp

  • Finely chopped capsicum – 2 tbsp

  • Salt and chilli flakes – as needed

  • Oil – 1 tbsp

  1. In a pan take oil and saute onions till the raw smell goes away

  2. Add corn and capsicum and saute till its cooked

  3. Add salt and chilli flakes and give a toss.
