Black Chana Paratha

This is a very healthy paratha, loaded with protein as black chana dal is full of protein.


Prep Time: 8 hrs Cook Time: 1 hr


Ingredients

  • 1 cup black chana

  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic green chillies paste

  • salt to taste

  • 1 tsp Ajwain

  • 1 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 cup Wheat flour

  • 1/2 Finely chopped onions (optional)

  • 1 tbsp + for cooking oil

  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak the black chana overnight and cook it with enough water in the cooker for 4-5 whistles

  2. Drain the water and save it for making the dough

  3. Pulse the black chana along with ginger garlic chillies paste, salt, chilli powder, without adding water preferably

  4. Add wheat flour, ajwain, onions and coriander leaves to the mixture and make a tight smooth dough.

  5. Smear oil and keep aside for half an hour.

  6. Make thick parathas with a rolling pin while dusting flour and cook it with ghee or oil

  7. Serve hot with raita

Notes

  • I do not add onions as the dal itself leaves a little water after the dough is bound. Onions add to the water and the paratha gets messy to roll out.
