This was a new type of burfi I recently tried at a South Indian restaurant here. When I poured the burfi batter on the tray it seemed a bit soft (like halwa) but the next day it resembled a soft burfi.
Cook Time: 30 mins
Ingredients
3/4 cup Besan
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Bournvita
1/4 cup Ghee
Sliced almonds, for garnish
Instructions
In a saucepan boil 1/2 cup water with the sugar, boil till you get a string
In a non stick heavy bottom pan, take the ghee and the besan and fry till the besan gets roasted well and you get a nice aroma
Soak the bournvita in 1 tbsp hot water and mix it well
Add the sugar to the besan mixture and switch off the flame
Add the bournvita mixture and mix it vigorously all on no flame
Grease a square tin and sprinkle sliced almonds
Once the besan mixture thickens add this to the greased tray and leave it to cool
When it is slightly warm, cut into pieces and invert it to get the almonds to the top
