This is a South Indian vegetable, had as an accompaniment with sambhar or rasam rice. It can be had with rotis also but goes well with rice.
This can be done with a lot of vegetables like cabbage, cluster beans, and capsicum, the best being with capsicum. The recipe remains the same for all the veggies and the veggies need to be cooked as per their respective cooking time.

Ingredients
1 cup French beans cut into small cubes
Salt, to taste
7-10 curry leaves
2 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Turmeric powder
To make a paste and steam
1/4 cup Tur dal
2 tbsp Chana dal
4 Whole red chillies
1 tsp Hing
Instructions
Soak tur dal and chana dal for an hour
Drain the water and grind the dals along with hing and red chillies to a smooth coarse paste adding very little water
Steam this in an idli cooker for around 20 mins to half an hour
Once cool, crumble this with your hand to a rough mixture (Mine doesnt steam soft, so I do a grr in the chopper or mixie) and keep aside
In a pan, take oil, splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves
Add turmeric powder and add the washed beans
Add salt and cover and cook till done
Add the crumbled mixture and sauté for 10 minutes till well blended
Serve as an accompaniment with sambhar or rasam rice
