Chana Dal Sundal

Prep Time: 2 hrs

Cook Time: 30 mins


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana dal

  • Salt, to taste

  • 2 tbsp Fresh grated coconut

  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder

For tempering

  • 2 tsps coconut oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 4 red chillies

  • 5-7 Curry leaves

  • 1 tsp Hing

Instructions

  1. Soak the chana dal for 2 hours in hot water

  2. Cook the Chana dal by adding turmeric powder and salt in the water till the dal is cooked but the grains are separate (do not pressure cook as it may get mashy)

  3. Drain the dal and keep aside

  4. In a pan, add the oil, splutter mustard seeds.

  5. Add the red chillies, curry leaves and hing

  6. Add the drained dal and saute well, add salt if required

  7. Lastly garnish with grated coconut
