Coconut Chutney (Green)

This is a simple coconut chutney to be had with idlis or dosas.. other than coconut the other main ingredient is roasted gram dal or chutney dal.. I did not have chutney dal so the below picture is with Roasted chana dal, equally tasty. I added a little coriander leaves as well and it tasted awesome but my moms coconut chutney does not have coriander leaves





Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Fresh grated coconut

  • 1/4 cup Roasted gram dal

  • Salt, to taste

  • 3 Green chillies

  • 1 tsp Oil

  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp Urad dal

  • 1/2 tsp Hing

  • 3 Curry leaves

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add roasted gram dal, green chillies and salt and grind to a powder

  2. Add the coconut and little water and grind to a paste

  3. In a pan take oil and splutter mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves saute till the dal gets light brown

  4. Add hing and add this to the chutney


Notes :

If you dont have roasted gram dal, take chana dal and roast it to golden brown and follow the same procedure
