This is a simple coconut chutney to be had with idlis or dosas.. other than coconut the other main ingredient is roasted gram dal or chutney dal.. I did not have chutney dal so the below picture is with Roasted chana dal, equally tasty. I added a little coriander leaves as well and it tasted awesome but my moms coconut chutney does not have coriander leaves
Ingredients
3/4 cup Fresh grated coconut
1/4 cup Roasted gram dal
Salt, to taste
3 Green chillies
1 tsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Urad dal
1/2 tsp Hing
3 Curry leaves
Instructions
In a blender, add roasted gram dal, green chillies and salt and grind to a powder
Add the coconut and little water and grind to a paste
In a pan take oil and splutter mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves saute till the dal gets light brown
Add hing and add this to the chutney
Notes :
If you dont have roasted gram dal, take chana dal and roast it to golden brown and follow the same procedure
