I have already posted a date cake recipe (can be found here) but this recipe is with wheat flour. Definitely wheat flour is a much healthier version of maida. Also I did not add sugar to this cake. I used a variety of sticky dates for this recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup Whole wheat flour
25 Seedless dates
1 and 1/2 cups Milk
1/2 cup Oil
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Baking soda
1/2 cup Roughly chopped walnuts
1 tsp Cinnamon powder
1 tsp Flax seeds powder
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda well
De-seed the dates and boil it in enough milk till it is soft and make a puree of this
In a large bowl, add the oil, dates paste and beat it well
Tip in the cinnamon powder and the flax seeds powder and mix well
Add the dry ingredients and fold it gently to mix well
Add the chopped walnuts and mix once
Pour this into a greased loaf tin and bake it for 35-40 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C keeping a watch, till the toothpick comes clean
Cool completely, cut slices and serve with tea or coffee
