This is another kootu variety. This kootu can be had with steamed rice or as a gravy with chapathi. I personally like it with steamed rice and roasted apalam.

Ingredients
200 gms Flat beans
1/2 cup Tur dal
1 tbsp sambhar powder
1 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt, to taste
To be ground to a paste
1/2 cup Fresh grated coconut
1 tsp Cumin seeds
3 Red chillies
2 peppercorns
For tempering
1 tbsp Coconut oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Hing
4-5 Curry leaves
Instructions
De-string the flat beans and chop into thin cubes
Cook the tur dal and mash it, keep aside
Take grated coconut, cumin seeds, red chillies and peppercorns in a blender and grind to a fine paste adding little water
In a saucepan add the beans, turmeric powder, salt and bring to a boil till the beans is cooked
Add the sambhar powder and cook for 2 minutes
Add the ground paste and cook for another minute, switch off the flame
In a pan add coconut oil and temper mustard seeds, urad dal,hing and curry leaves
Once the urad dal gets light brown, add this to the kootu
Serve hot with rice and papad or any roasted veggie
