Babru is a famous kachori that is made of urad dal and served as breakfast in Himachal Pradesh. I once had this at a friend’s place and immediately loved the taste. Since we do not usually eat a heavy breakfast, I made it once for dinner and my family loved it!

Ingredients
For the outer covering
1 cup Whole wheat flour
Salt, to taste
Water, to knead
For the filling
1/2 cup Urad dal
Salt, to taste
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tsp Chaat masala
Instructions
For the outer covering
Make a tight dough of wheat flour and water. Keep aside covered for 10 mins.
For the filling
Soak urad dal overnight
Drain the water and grind it to a coarse paste
Add chilli powder, chaat masala and salt and keep aside
To proceed
Roll a lemon sized ball size of the covering
Fill in a small ball of the dal filling, close and seal
Roll this into a thick puri. Make similar puris out of the rest of the dough and filling
Deep fry these and serve hot with chutney of your choice
