Masale Bhaat is a very famous mixed rice speciality of Maharashtrians. They make this for a lot of festivals and serve it with varanchi dal and puran poli. They use various vegetables like cauliflower or tindli or brinjal etc but I felt this rice is best when it is prepared with tindli or gerkins.
Cook Time: 40 mins
Ingredients
1/2 cup Gerkins or tindli washed and sliced
1 cup Basmati rice
Salt to taste
2 tbsp Goda masala
3 tbsps Oil
2 tbsps ghee
2 tbsps + for garnish fresh grated coconut
2 tbsp + for garnish Finely chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp Mustard seeds
3 finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tsp Turmeric powder
Instructions
In a pressure cooker take the oil and ghee and splutter mustard seeds
Add the green chillies, tindli, turmeric powder, salt and mix well
Add the rice and saute for 3-5 mins
Add the 2 tbsp coriander leaves and the 2 tbsp grated coconut mix well
Add the goda masala, chilli powder, 2 cups of water and give 1 whistle
Garnish with coriander leaves and fresh grated coconut
