Methi Rice

I had this tasty rice once as prasad at the Sindhi temple and instantly loved the taste. So I asked one of my sindhi friends to give me the recipe. This is one of my favorite rice dishes till date.


Prep Time: 45 mins

Cook Time: 30 mins


Ingredients

  • 2 cups Finely chopped methi leaves

  • 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tsps Cumin seeds

  • 2 tsps Turmeric powder

  • 5 Finely chopped green chillies

  • 2 Grated garlic

  • 3 tbsps Ghee

  • 3 cups basmati rice

Instructions

  1. Soak the basmati rice for 1/2 hour

  2. In a pressure pan, add ghee, cumin seeds, chopped chillies and garlic and saute for 1 min

  3. Add the chopped tomatoes, salt and saute till the tomatoes become mashy

  4. Add the methi leaves and rice and saute till the oil oozes

  5. Add 4 & 1/2 cups of water and cook for 1 whistle

  6. Serve hot with raita
