This is a fusion sundal that I learned of about a year ago. I loved the combination of pasta with chana and the taste was enhanced because of the sundal powder.
Prep Time: 8 hrs
Cook Time: 1 hr
Ingredients
1 cup Pasta
1/4 cup Brown chana
Salt, to taste
Sundal powder, as needed*
1 tbsp Grated coconut
For tempering
1 tbsp Coconut oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
4-5 Curry leaves
1/2 tsp Hing
3 Red chillies
Instructions
Soak the brown chana overnight and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles till well cooked, drain water and keep aside
Cook the pasta with little salt and oil until almost done, do not overcook it. Keep aside.
In a pan take oil and splutter mustard seeds
Add urad dal and saute till light pink
Add hing and curry leaves
Add the cooked chana, adjust salt and saute for a minute
Add sundal powder and saute for another 3 minutes
Add the cooked pasta and mix well for another minute
Garnish with fresh grated coconut, saute for another minute and switch off the flame
