Pasta Sundal

This is a fusion sundal that I learned of about a year ago. I loved the combination of pasta with chana and the taste was enhanced because of the sundal powder.


Prep Time: 8 hrs

Cook Time: 1 hr


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pasta

  • 1/4 cup Brown chana

  • Salt, to taste

  • Sundal powder, as needed*

  • 1 tbsp Grated coconut

For tempering

  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil

  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 4-5 Curry leaves

  • 1/2 tsp Hing

  • 3 Red chillies

Instructions

  1. Soak the brown chana overnight and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles till well cooked, drain water and keep aside

  2. Cook the pasta with little salt and oil until almost done, do not overcook it. Keep aside.

  3. In a pan take oil and splutter mustard seeds

  4. Add urad dal and saute till light pink

  5. Add hing and curry leaves

  6. Add the cooked chana, adjust salt and saute for a minute

  7. Add sundal powder and saute for another 3 minutes

  8. Add the cooked pasta and mix well for another minute

  9. Garnish with fresh grated coconut, saute for another minute and switch off the flame
