Peanut Chutney

This chutney is an easy recipe and an accompaniment for South Indian breakfast dishes. This is easy to make and does not need too many ingredients!


Cook Time: 30 mins


Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Peanuts

  • 5-6 Red chilies

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1 Garlic

  • 1 small piece of Tamarind

  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp Oil

  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 3 Curry leaves

  • 1/2 tsp Hing

Instructions

  1. In a pan take 1 tsp oil and add garlic, red chillies and tamarind and saute till garlic turns brown and the raw smell goes away

  2. Add the peanuts till it gets well roasted and light brown (make sure this does not burn)

  3. Add all sauteed ingredients in a blender, add very little water and grind to a paste

  4. In a pan, take oil and splutter mustard seeds and urad dal and saute till the dal gets roasted

  5. Add curry leaves and hing and temper this to the chutney
