This sheera is made as prasad by Maharashtrians for Satyanarayan pooja. The prasad turnms out very nice and when you try doing it on any other day, it doesnt turn out as good, this is what people say. The taste is just unique. The trick and taste of this sheera in my opinion is the banana, so definitely do not skip it. For pooja, we do not add any flavourings or nuts etc, it is served as it is Cook Time: 30 mins
Ingredients
1 & 1/4 cup Semolina
2 & 1/2 cups Milk
1 & 1/4 cup Sugar
1 & 1/4 cup Ghee
1 big banana
Dry fruits (optional)
Instructions
In a deep saucepan add milk and bring to a boil, keep aside (you can dilute by adding little water)
In a non deep pan, take semolina and dry roast it slowly on medium flame till it becomes light brown (you need to patiently do it on medium flame else it may becomes brown faster without getting well roasted), keep aside
In the same pan, take ghee, slice the bananas and add this to the ghee
Keep sauteing and mashing the bananas till it starts to blend in the ghee
Add the rawa and roast it for another 3-5 mins
Add the hot milk and cook covered for 5 minutes
After 5 minutes, stir it once again and cover and cook in steam till the water dries up
Add the sugar and again cook covered for 5 minutes
Open the lid and mix well
You can add the dry fruits at this stage, if you are adding, and switch off the gas
