Spongy Dosa

Updated: Aug 27, 2020

This dosa is different from our normal dosa since it does not have urad dal. This is made with plain rice and poha that is soaked overnight. It is extremely soft and tastes yummy as well!

Prep Time: 9 hrs

Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Idli rice (boiled)

  • 1/4 cup Thick poha

  • 3 cups Thin buttermilk

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1/4 tsp Cooking soda

Instructions

  1. Soak rice and poha in buttermilk overnight

  2. Drain excess buttermilk if any and grind this to a fine batter, slightly thinner than idli batter (you can use the excess buttermilk to grind)

  3. Add salt and cooking soda and mix well

  4. In a non stick pan, drizzle a tsp of oil and wipe it with a tissue to grease the pan

  5. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it lightly without making it too thin (it should be like a thick uthappam)

  6. Drizzle oil on the sides, cover and cook (you will see holes in it)

  7. Do not turn it, both does will get cooked when you close the lid

  8. Serve it hot with chutney
