Sugar-Free Dates and Figs Barfi

This is an easy sweet and the best part is, it is healthy and does not contain any sugar. Like all the other sweets we make for Diwali, this is a welcome sweet!


Cook Time: 1 hr



Ingredients

  • 1 cup Seedless sticky dates

  • 1 cup Figs

  • 1 cup Mixed nuts - almonds, cashew nuts and pistachios

  • 1 tbsp Ghee

Instructions

  1. Soak figs in hot water just till the level of the figs for half an hour till it gets thicker

  2. Deseed the dates if you use the seeded variety

  3. Grind the figs and the dates in a blender to a nice coarse mixture

  4. Toast the nuts slightly in a pan and coarsely chop the nuts and keep aside

  5. In a pan with ghee, add the ground mixture

  6. Sautee for 10 mins on low flame till it binds together and the moisture gets dried up

  7. Add the nuts and saute for another minute or two

  8. Put the mixture in a greased tray and refrigerate.

  9. Once cooled down, cut into squares

Notes

Use a sticky date and fig variety to make this sweet
