I learnt of this recipe from a good friend in our food group. She is from Punjab and this is an authentic punjabi kichdi.. Initially I was reluctant as I wasnt sure of the taste of urad dal but the result was awesome specially when I had it hot with ghee on top.
Her recipe did not have tomatoes, but I tried it and the taste wasnt any different
