This upma is made like any other upma for breakfast in South Indian homes. Very tasty and is usually had with coconut chutney or pickle.

Ingredients
1 cup Thick vermicelli
2 cups Water
Salt, to taste
1 Finely chopped onions
3 Finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp Hing
1 tsp Turmeric powder
1/4 cup Frozen mixed veggies
For tempering
2 tbsps Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Chana dal
5-7 Curry leaves
Instructions
In a pan dry roast the vermicelli till light brown and keep aside
In the same pan add the oil and splutter mustard seeds
Add the urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves and sauté till the dals become light brown
Add the onions, salt, hing and turmeric powder and sauté till the raw smell of the onions go away
Add the roasted vermicelli and mix well for a minute
Add 2 cups of water and the frozen veggies and cook till done
Serve hot with pickle
Notes
If you do not want to use frozen, you can finely chop veggies of your choice and cook them in a microwave for around 3-4 minutes till they are cooked.
